About Me...

I'm a retired kindergarten teacher. I have been involved in the dog world since 1964 when I purchased my first pure bred show dog... a Rough Collie. I became interested in showing dogs and ultimately the challenge of breeding dogs. I bred and showed Rough Collies for 12 years. I became Maryintrigued with the Bearded Collie a couple of years before they became AKC recognized. I showed the first Beardie in Michigan, put points on the first Beardie in Michigan and got the first group placement on a Beardie in Michigan. I enjoyed many years of breeding and showing Beardies and I still do. I have bred or co-bred 57 champion Beardies thus far.

About 12 years ago I began having problems with arthritis in my hands so I began looking for a smaller dog that would require less grooming, but still had some shaggy coat like the Beardie. While at a show in Windsor, Ontario, I saw a small fetching shaggy, sort of dog and became interested enough to follow the owner back to her grooming area. I found out it was a Löwchen and the owner/breeder was Donna Cullen of Donalen Löwchen in Windsor. With her help, I was able to meet Janet Peret-Green of Duncara Löwchen in France and ultimately flew to France and picked up two Löwchen. The rest, as they say, is history. I found the Löwchen to be fetching and so the quest began to breed mentally and physically healthy Löwchen. I showed the first Löwchen in Michigan, put the first points on a Löwchen and put the first group placement on a Löwchen in Michigan after they were recognized by the AKC. I have imported Löwchen from England, France and Australia and to date have produced 27 champion Löwchen in 10 years of breeding.
