Löwchen History

Löwchen can be traced back to the 1400's through painting and tapestries. They Miawere used in the lady's boudoirs as 'watch dogs' to let the guards know if a guy got in the boudoir. Löwchen are definitely 'watch dogs'. Nothing escapes them. The ladies
discovered that the Löwchen had very warm skin so they shaved the back third of the dog, put it under the covers in those cold old castles, put their feet on the bare skin and the Löwchen became a 'hot water bottle' that never cooled down. In the day time the ladies would wrap their hands in the coat like a muff and hold the dog close to them which would warm their whole body... thus they became known as the 'Hot water Bottles of Europe'..
